Individual assessment and treatment for back pain
Back symptoms differ from person to person. At Universal Spine, a personal assessment and consultation come before choosing a treatment. Our practice offers spine consultations, second opinions, PRT, facet joint injections and sacroiliac joint injections.

Understanding the possible cause
We discuss the nature, duration and course of your symptoms and previous treatments. Examination and existing imaging findings support the assessment. Not every change seen on an MRI scan automatically explains the symptoms.
PRT for nerve root symptoms
Periradicular therapy, or PRT, is a targeted injection near a nerve root. It may be considered for selected symptoms. MRI-guided treatment uses magnetic resonance imaging for orientation and monitoring. Suitability for both the treatment and MRI is checked beforehand.
Facet and sacroiliac joint injections
Facet joints are the small joints between adjacent vertebrae. The sacroiliac joints connect the sacrum and pelvis. When findings match one of these possible pain sources, a targeted injection may be considered to help identify the source and provide temporary pain relief.
Information and preparation
Injections carry risks, including bleeding, infection, allergic reactions and nerve injury. Their effects and duration vary. Tell us about your medications, blood thinners, allergies and implants. Do not stop medication on your own; preparation and travel home are discussed individually.
Consultation and contact
Whether an injection, another conservative approach or a surgical assessment is appropriate is decided after examination and consultation. For privately insured and self-paying patients; costs are discussed before treatment. Contact: info@universalspine.com.
